Following her graduation in 1991, she assumed the post of String Program Director for Washington County School District in St. George, Utah. She served three of her five years with the Southwest Symphony as principal cellist, and was on the faculty of the Tuacahn Center for the Arts as a cello teacher and assistant conductor of the Tuacahn Honor Symphony. In 1996 she moved to Kalispell, Montana where she was the director of the string program in Kalispell School District No. 5, served as principal cellist of the Glacier Orchestra and was a member of the Glacier Quartet. She is also the co-founder and director of the Black Glove Cello Festival, held each summer at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah. Tracie currently lives in Denver, Colorado, where she recently earned her Master's Degree in cello performance from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. She occupies her time with performing, research, teaching, and playing with her dog, Maggie. |
David Key, Music Director of the Colorado Britten Society, studied his BA in Music at the University of Reading in his native England and studied tuba with Owen Slade at the Royal College of Music, London. It was in 1998 that David completed the distinguished performer's diploma to become an Associate of the Royal College of Music. Tracie Price, Artistic Director, began her musical studies at age 8 as a pianist, studying with Janet Finlayson in Salt Lake City. Nine years later, she took up the cello, and began studying with Utah Symphony Principal Cellist, J. Ryan Selberg, when she entered the University of Utah. During the 1998-99 season, he served as music director and conductor of the University of Reading Chamber Orchetra and was later praised for his professional and unique approach to the student-led orchestra. David continued his interest in conducting whilst completing his Master of Music degree in tuba performance and conducting at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. On completing his graduate degree, he was awarded an International Merit Scholarship for "outstanding academic excellence" in his studies in June 2001.
David is Principal Guest conductor with the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra for the 2001/02 season and also serves as a guest conductor with Boulder Youth Orchestra. David currently combines conducting with research and he is undertaking extensive research into the life and works of Benjamin Britten. As co-founding director (with Tracie Price) of the Colorado Britten Society, the aim is to bring the music and scholarly research of Benjamin Britten to the wider Colorado community.
